Tweetie Bird

Location

My childhood is nearly gone.

I'm a senior in high school and soon will be moving on.

I remember baking cookies in my Nana's house

and shrieking when I saw my first mouse.

I remember holding baby snakes

and baking Tweetie-bird birthday cakes.

But now, I don't bake cakes

or hold baby snakes.

I don't even glance at mice!

That is certainly nice.

Instead, I'm almost to college,

soaking up that lovely little thing called knowledge.

Soon I will be setting up my dorm,

patiently awaiting life's many storms.

And as the time flies by, year after year,

I will never forget to smile through my tears.

After all, haven't I been doing just this?

Laughing at my mistakes and trials,

even if I miss?

So it's true; I'll never forget my childhood,

even if I could.

No, I'll just grow up and

maybe find my old sippy cup.

I will eat celebratory cake and dance like a snake,

because my life is just beginning

and it's finally time for a remake.
