The Twins

Nothing but dead silence in the air, and for some reason, I'm dragged out of sleep, heart racing pores gushing. I'm breathing so erratically that my throat is beginning to chafe. "Go away!" I pled. Nothing ... Silence ... The only thing happening is the sparks flying in those horrible almond twins. They are the reason I wake up at night. They are the reason I feel this.. This.. Dread. I sit with blackness surrounding, shoeing away those horrible insects. What can I do? Cover my ears? No that won't help they'll just keep coming. How can I stop this demon from surfacing? It's black, amorphous shape, so tantalizing to the twins. can I stop this madness? There's only one way out but, it's the whole reason I curl up in bed every night. The only solution to this pandemonium is the very thing that the demon wants those twins to commit. Day in and day out, I walk around fighting this demon it's even caused me to see others’ demons. Hers is a deep grey, it beckons me, telling the twins of better days. Numbing the feel of my demon. I don't even know what mine looks like. I never see it, it's just there. His demon, it's red, and large, towering in a furious scowl. He gives the twins rage, they never fell any good. Can I numb them? Sure, I can just Medicate my demon, couldn't I? No that won't help. It stays, it persists. Every move I make, those tiny bugs come back. They summon the demon. I'm anxious, it's going to happen when I least expect it. What if I never fight this atrocity? The toxicity oozes from my ears, punches me in the gut. Every time I think I've finally surfaced from my personal hell, one little thing can spark. I hear the buzz again, those damned insects. The demon, it's right next to me. But why can't I see it? I look in the mirror, I see the black sludge oozing behind me. "It's, you!" I gasp. That haunting smile. Those soulless eyes. There she is. I thought she died. That's what the twins told me. She must have, she was... gone. Ever since then I've become, evil. Hating everything. Happiness you say? Those are just imagined words from a pair of twins that actually function. I want a way out. I need a way out. But I can't, I've decided I'm going to let the demon take me. The twins will soon fight it, but they won't prevail. Maybe when the demon gets what it wants, it will leave. That has to be it, right? It's settled. I go home and sit. Patient in my endeavor. What's to come next? The buzz is back, ahh there it is. The demon, my twins crave. But this time, it's ... Different. They are trying to fight what they so hopelessly prolonged, what they so viciously caused. I whisper "maybe it will change" with a quiver, and the twins scream. They are yelling, saying this is not the way. They are telling me they can change. But I know better I've witnessed those lies crumble before me, time and time again. This is it, no final thoughts now. But wait ...I hear the city, laughing, having a joyous time, unaware of the demons that so ruthlessly haunt them. I was always jealous, ya know? Why couldn't the twins be, more lively, or wholesome like theirs? How could those people master such awful demons? How could they stand the buzz? I'll never know, maybe I was just unfortunate, there are other twins, they share the same qualities. There are others, like me... I hear the memories that deteriorated the twins....and the ones that gave them any chance for survival. I'll miss those demons, the others. But it'll be over, my demon will get what it's desired for so long. One last flash of light, and the loudest sound, heard around the world, and then... Silence.. Blackness.. Wait, this is, the same! This is no better. Where are the twins? Why can't I hear them? This is worse. I want to go back. I thought it would change, I thought it go away. This is what the twins always wanted. Or was it the demon possessing the twins? I want to go back. I want to go back. I WANT TO GO BACK!! But really was it any better? I'm as dead now as I ever was then. But this time I don't have twins. The demon is all that's left.
