A Twist in Fate

I gave you the key to open the door

I let you in, I showed you the broken, the beaten, and the damaged parts of me.

Just like that you taped me up and made me one.

You helped me get up and encouraged me to walk

You showed me how to live freely, to love openly and now how to learn

You attached a string to both of us but expected me not to follow

As things got hard you shut me out

As the air around us faded thin you saved yourself

As we started sinking you saved yourself

While I was drowning I asked for your help but you turned your back

I gave you the care, attention and love as I thought you deserved

I was appericative of what you did for me

I gave you as much as a broken person could

Yet you walked away, you cut the chord that was once there

You said it wasn't working that I wasn't enough

You walked right out the door that was once locked before

You left me behind

In that moment the tape that covered the imperfections disapperaed

into the cold summer water leaving the scars to show

the only thing that is left is the memories of what once was

the buring pain in my lungs

the fragments of the person that previously whole

and an aching soul was all that there was to be remembered
