Two Brilliant Lovers

Two brilliant lovers,

Oblivious to their own magnificence,

He was a neutron star, and she was a neutron star.

They floated in a different kind of space than the other people and planets,

They had the whole universe,

But all they saw was each other.

Hesitant behind thoughts of a supernova,

Admiration only came from afar,

Love unconfessed.

11 billion years circling each other in love games and flattery,

Oblivious to the magnificence of what their love could create,

At their cores gravity enthralled them naturally together.

Hesitant behind thoughts of a supernova,

They risked their own destruction if it meant just a kiss,

One dark sky then witnessed the birth of precious elements.

130 million years ago,

Two neutron stars collided,

The intensity of their love did far more than destroy each other.

It conceived the blessed creation,

Of an amplitude of blue and red fading lights in the sky,

Visible cosmic fireworks,

The held up yearning for each other’s touch finally mushroomed,

Passionate radioactive waste expanded and dispursed.

Oblivious to the magnificence of what their love could create,

Their heated chemistry formulated an exotic intimacy far away,

Of 200 Earth masses of pure gold,

Of 500 Earth masses of platinum,

One single collision,

A few tenths of the speed of light,

In the hearth of the universe,

Their love upsurged to the size of the solar system.
