Two-Faced

It was the experience of a lifetime,

Too bad the people weren’t personable.

If only I could deny them this rhyme…

Who knew that they would live up their label?

On the surface they were pleasant, polite,

But soon enough they had all polarized.

I hoped for a change, and I thought I might;

It was a repeat, I soon realized.

Always the same trap, always so alone.

They were constantly looking for a jest.

The way they couldn’t be nice made me moan;

Am I really so different from the rest?

The petty arguments, the hurtful lies

I can’t stand, so a small part of me dies
