Two Friends Sitting on a Swing

Location

A brunette and a blonde
Sitting on a swing
Feet dirty from the wet lawn
Dresses soiled from the spring

Joy filled their vulnerable hearts
Life would never quench their love
Everyone knew they would never part
Their loving Father blessed them from above

Gossip never came forth from their tongues
Secrets were always told
The air they breathed together from two lungs
Staying together threw times of cold

Their separate lives would flood the scene
Gentlemen would give them flowers
Husbands would never come between
Children would stack like towers

Death was seen in the folds
A  widow would emerge
Years made them old
But friendship would endure
