Two Houses, One Child

At first it was light

I noticed it first

But then

All around

The sound became loud

I wanted to make it stop

The people were frightening

All wanting to be heard

But instead they were fighting

Just stop

I tried to scream

At the top of my lungs

Mom, Dad please

See me, I’m crying

What I thought was true,

Was now a lie

Two houses

One child

A heart was divided

These people who were there

When the light first shined

Are gone

Now strangers

A child

Whose heart was divided
