Two Months Felt Longer With You

It's been about a week now

and I'm starting to realize all that I've done.

I know we said in our songs that this wouldn't last forever

and we didn't know that it would go on for this long

but we never mentioned how we would feel after.

Why would we

I was finally not thinking about the future

but unfortunately our living in the moment had to end.

I get to tell you now that it feels pretty empty.

I don't know if I miss you or if I even meant the words I wrote on paper

but I will say that every day you were in my life it was easier.

You made me smile and laugh and feel good.

In order to keep my forever you must stay a memory.

Reality is not an option.

but maybe I will allow myself to think that you remember too some days

and I'll know I made someone smile.

What an accomplishment

What a feat.

That's all I ever wanted in this little game we played.
