Two to One

Once upon a time, two hearts became one.

I knew I would love you, so I let our romance bud.

You became my best friend a little then all at once.

Then I loved you so, and it was years instead of months.

We were truth and bliss and trust.

And because I loved you, being with you was a must.

You didn’t give me all I want, you gave me all I need.

But because I loved you, it was time for me to leave.

You had your dreams and I had mine,

And because I loved you, I knew of all the mountains we would climb.

Please, please forgive me for this decision I had to make.

But because I love you, a piece of my heart you will forever take

I've loved you from the beginning, and I love you until the end.

And because we've loved for all this time, I hope you'll love me again.
