Redeemed, my spirit is quickened ... a new life imparted to me.

The new nature now dresses my being ... for the first time I am free.

Two in one dearly departed ...  one the old and the other new

One is sinful and the other godly ... one in two what now to do?

Soul life driven by old tradition ... but in the spirit fancy-free

Now a walking contradiction ... only Christ can now help me.

Fundamentally nothing in common ... the old and the new can’t reconcile.

Both are battling at this moment ... to control my being so defiled.

When I sin I am paralyzed ... but when in Christ I glory.

Crucified with Him I live ... the old just shriveled gory.

My soul then still infected ... becomes a servant willing.

It won’t be totally defiled ... as natural is its billing.
