Two Separate Lives
A girl,
Carefree and beautiful,
Smiling and dreaming,
Living and flying,
Leaping and dancing,
Joyful and cheery,
Happy and bubbly,
Innocent and whole,
And then there’s
A girl,
Dark-sided,
Miserable and anguished,
Shattered and broken,
Only surviving,
Suffering ever so silently,
Crying and weeping
For all that’s been lost,
Alone and forgotten,
Dying and collapsing
In the arms of the sweet,
Sympathetic ground,
Screaming and whispering
Words no one can hear,
Searching for a light
In the blackness
Of a crumbling,
Charcoal heart;
A life worth living,
And a life not worth saving.
