The two sides of me

Inside of me there are two sides
A yin and yang which are know as my light and the darkness

My light is a man of cheer
who only sees the sun and not the shadows it creates
He bathes in illumination and my success that he dwells in
He returns the love he is given
The light spreads his bliss as far as he can
Rejoicing if he helps others
Attempting again if he does not
Using his joy as a muse he becomes a guardian
 who uses words to guide
my mind to protect
and I the one he aids

My darkness is a hollow creature
who has faith in nothing but  my fails that it dwells in
It bathes in blackness and the hate of others
It returns the hate it is given
The darkness keeps it's despondency to itself
Preferring to be reclusive
Lashing out at those who come to it
Using it's negativity it becomes a tormentore
who uses words as its tools
my mind as a place to do his deeds
and I the one he afficts

My darkness keeps me in black chains as it takes me down a  memory lane of all I've done wrong
Forcing me to feed it my agony
The light appears with his army to free me
The darkness calls it's army and they come
The two sides erupt into battle, creating a bloody civil war in my mind
The darkness begins to beat down on light
Engulfing him
However my light fights back
Soon he wins back all the ground he lost to the darkness
Their clashes begin to destroy me
Every bullet they shoot feels like it's piercing me
Every knife feels like it is cutting me
Every punch and kick feels like it's hitting me
Nonetheless my light gives the darkness everything it has
The darkness is forced to retreated
The light continues his assault
Playing the part of Sherman and the darkness's territory being his march to the sea
The light win the bloody war and becomes my dominate part
However the darkness still lurks
