Two Southern Girls
I do declare like two peas in a pod....
These two Southern Belles are traveling abroad!
We like to eat grits and sip on sweet tea, as southern as you can get, Lou Ann and Me!
In just 29 days we will board a jet plane,On our way to Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Canada and Maine.
Never to have crossed the Mason Dixon Line, rest assured these two Belle's will be just fine!
We may walk a little slower and speak with a drawl,
I'm sure we will stand out amongst the Yankees when we say Y'all.
We may walk a little slower and speak with a drawl,
I'm sure we will stand out amongst the Yankees when we say Y'all.
Look out New York City cause here we come, with our parasols in hand to protect our face from the sun.
We are sure to tilt our heads and say Bless Your Heart,
When a Bostonian speaks Brahmin
It will tear us apart!
Luck be two Ladies in Atlantic City!
We will check out the boardwalk while lookin' real pretty.
Then we will stop by "Ole' Blue Eyes" Sinatra's hometown,
Hobokan, NJ where Carlo's Bakery is found.
Then off we will go to visit New York City, where the men on Wall Street wear suits and career women dress pretty.
We will stroll through Central Park in a horse drawn carriage and reminisce of crushing on JFK Jr. as kids and dreaming of marriage!
Ellis Island is the place we will go to explore our roots. I'll offer my unsolicited advice and suggest Lady Liberty wear boots!
Were our ancestors English, Irish, Italian, Scottish, German or Dutch?
We are sure to find out after researching so much!
At the 911 Memorial we will get down on our knees and stop to pause
Pray to God for world peace and for the families of lives that were lost.
We'll remember that day and wipe tears from our face and we hum the hymn of Amazing Grace.
Maybe we will go to the top of the Empire State Building or see a Broadway Show, or be a guest on Jimmy Fallon, need I say WOAH!
From Manhattan to Brooklyn and all in between you can't go to New York and not see Queens!
One last stop to the Bergen Hunt and Fish Club, In hopes to snap photos of mobsters, I pray we won't get snubbed or worse mugged!
We'll board a big ship ready to set sail. Headed further north to eat some delicious Lobster Tail.
Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. John's Bay. Just a few of the places these two Southerners will stay.
Our spouses and children will be a sight for sore eyes! These two best friends are so grateful for this trip,
It was a fabulous surprise!
