two steps behind

What is age?

What is skin color?

What is an inch maybe four that make him tower over me?

Nothing.

But what is she.

‘she’ is the girl that’s always there. The one to whom he gives his heart though I more than she will care.

I more than she

But he doesn’t see

Me.

I stand behind while she’s ahead in his vision. I’m behind to catch him when she lets him down

Again.

And again.

And again.

I’m behind because that’s where friends go

And it hurts to say but is something I know

No matter how much more than she I care it’s not something with him I’m willing to share.

Because if I do I fear I won’t be able to stand with him at all

I’d have to run and hide or say I lied

To escape disappointment and hurt inside

When really I want to ask what am I?

Then at the very least I can say I tried

But I think it’s safe to say

Ill simply stay

Behind.

I sing I write I draw, I'm an artistic girl all around. I plan to major in creative writing and Spanish, so double major. There is hardly ever a time you wont hear me singing or humming:)
