Two Streams Of My Life

Two Streams Of My Life

by t.a. mayes

I have two streams that flow through my mind.

One foams and bubbles with raging white water

The other is calm, its current very kind.

The creek on my right is my daily life turmoil

Hiding beneath lie tangles and snags amid the rocks

The current is deep and swift and really can roil

The one on the left is more the way I want to be

The water like glass, it's flow imperceptible

Moving along so slowly, full of serenity

Coming together, combining as one manageable stream

Restoring some sanity to this battered old man

Able to handle the torrents, recovery life seems like a dream
