Two Teddy Bears
One.
Gray with streaks of white
like Grandma's hair.
Soft, sweet.
But tones of darkness.
Days of staring out the large hospital window.
Days when my mother was never without a crease of worry.
of pain.
Her one other family member
dying. starving. chasing. giving up.
Days when someone with a
Good Heart
would bring in a puppy!
Sneaking in a smile for my face.
And a present. My Believe Bear.
Two.
Yellow with streaks of gold.
Stiff.
Commemorating my first date.
Awkward passes in the hallway.
My first high school dance.
A short game of hot potato.
Special.
Where no one wants to hold it.
Fun gossip.
Shy, short, sweet.
Together forever!?
Together Never.
Stiff.
One. Two. Boom.
