Two Trees

Two trees in a forest

Young, they struggle

The dirt covers their hearts

Coating the bark they live inside

Their leaves rattle together

Shaking, they argue

The colors ultimately rust and calm

Fighting against the cold

Their branches rush upon each other

Embracing, they care

The sun casts their shadows to the ground

Documenting their unity

Their roots overlap and poke out of the grasses

Entangling, they grow

The dirt does not encase them

Unwavering they stand close

Forever

Two trees in a forest

Old, they have touched the sky
