Two Years
On the way home, passing the cemetery, it hit.
Two years; it has been two already in this short little span.
And this night, of all things, being what triggered the remembrance.
Two years ago, this thing I see was the thing that helped me cope.
Your death seems so near, so far, and somehow still impossible.
Two years since we could carry on so carelessly with talks of movies and the past.
I miss you, you know that, and the thing I saw made me remember the greatest hurt of all.
Two years have passed without you in her life and you were her everything.
Like with the thing I saw, you were inherently adorable and meant to be.
Two years ago the cruelty of life separated you, by death.
And the old despair that was often there…
Two years have passed, and she is strong. I know you are with her still.
Thank you; she needs you; we all do…
