Typical Teenagers?

What would a typical teenager do?

After falling in love and experiencing the biggest betrayal by him and her.

After believing things could change for three in a half years and being proven horribly wrong.

Would a typical teenager have the courage to turn the other cheek or burn the jackets they once shared?

He used to tell her she was beautiful and nothing would be able to harm her as long as he was around.

He said this so I could hear from the other end of the phone as I held her the way only a sister could.

But, I had no true idea of his intentions- yet, she did.

What would a typical teenager do?

After finding out her sister was following my footsteps a little too closely.

After realizing he never wanted me, but my younger blood.

How could a typical teenager ever trust again?

Her sister lied for three years.

Her first love lied for three and a half years.

What would a typical teenager do?

After having an anxiety attack and running around her school undetected like a mad-man.

After being told I was nothing and not worth "another breath of air" because of my personality.

What would a typical teenager do?

Cry themselves to sleep?

Slit their wrist? Hang themselves?

Become a slut?

Keep moving forward?

Leave everyone behind and only worry about themselves?

Drown the world out with music?

I have seen all of these outcomes from many people: many people that were once like me.

Many people that do not understand my story, and vice versa.

But I do understand the options because I've tried them all but no one will ever see that.

No one will ever see my gazing eyes at many pieces of rope and my wondering mine of how fast i would bleed out.

No one will see my scars I failed to carry out because I was too scared.

No one will see the times I had cried myself to sleep or the first and only attempt I made to get back at him for what he did to me but could not because I still loved him.

What would a typical teenager do?

...

I don't know. I don't believe in typical.

But right now I'm alive- broken- but alive.

Damaged, but still fighting.
