The Tyrant and The Martyr

The Tyrant was one of us,

He snuck up upon his people.

He was one of them.

He fought our fight.

Somewhere something happened,

And the Tryrant was born.

The Martyr was one of us,

She spoke the minds of her people.

She was a wife.

She was a mother.

She was a sister.

The Martyr didn’t know her role.

The Tyrant amassed power,

With it corruption.

He made call after call,

Which people ignored.

People made excuses.

The Martyr spoke her mind,

And got hate for it.

He didn’t like getting called out,

She ignored him.

She brought down his excuses.

He sent soldiers into our cities.

The people talked,

Some fought back,

But it wasn’t nearly enough.

She didn’t have soldiers.

Just the power of words,

She fought back,

And they came to her home.

He sent soldiers to war,

The people disagreed,

Those wars have nothing to do with us,

They argued.

Our soldiers will fight a battle,

Our soldiers will die.

Our husbands will die,

Our wives will die,

Our children will die.

All for a war that is not ours.

She tells him to reconsider,

To bring our people home.

But who checked his orders?

No one.

The Tyrant wreaked havoc upon his people,

He was mad with power,

He sent soldiers to their homes.

He tore apart their families.

The Martyr begged for mercy for our people,

She pleaded for him to see reason,

For his soldiers to go home.

For our people to live.

The Tyrant was tired of her.

He gave the order,

And the soldiers were sent to her.

The Martyr was tired of him.

She stood up,

But didn’t see what was coming.

When the Tyrant heard,

It was nothing more than another life lost,

One more of the people who disobeyed him,

And he shot down.

When the people heard,

There was an uprising,

War raged between the soldiers and their people.

When the Martyr died,

And her rule began.

The people are vengeful

They were tired of being silenced.

Our Martyr, they called her,

Had been the match to their spark.

She started the change and she would rule forevermore.

When tyrant dies,

His rule will be over.

People will rejoice.

The Tyrant is Died!

They will cry to the rain.

He was smothering their voices.

He took power which didn’t belong to him, and people will cheer for his death.
