The Ugly Chick
I am a newly-hatched chick
That just broke out of her shell
Fresh, naked, turning heads like
A resounding, clanging bell
No majestic crimson comb
Fuzz instead of feathers bright
Outlandish, I must appear!
But I welcome this respite
Come tomorrow, I shall be
A fine, magnificent hen
But today, I breathe deeply
For I am free until then
