The Ugly 'Duckling'

A clutch of eggs hatches

While a proud duck watches

But one duckling is different than the rest

Like a quilt with an excess of swatches

His fellow ducklings discourage him

He leaves his native flock

Traveling, looking for greener pastures

Time passes in his internal clock

But wherever the duckling travels

His appreances leave him alienated

The other birds judge him visually

While the duckling feels hated

He waddles off into a cave

Never planning to emerge

Fearing the avain hate so strongly

Of their judgement, his mind wants to purge

But the wintertime becomes the spring

And not a duckling is revealed

But an enourmous owl, spiteful and bold

And the other birds' fates are sealed

The angry owl hunts his former flock

They cannot escape his wrath

They look not to his ugly face

But look away, not to cross his path
