UN-CELEBRATED

Today I’ve become a man But with this pain in my chest I dare not say As there is no reason to celebrate My failures and my shame I feel like leaving but staying As a result of where I could be if I choose to leave My fears are getting obvious As my strength becomes oblivious Of that which lies ahead of after now and then My dreams, My imaginations, My hopes My expectations, Are becoming drowsy as faith leaves me On whose shoulders will I lean on? On whose arms will I cry on? Or with whom will I share this pain For it is more than what I can take In a world with my kind I feel so alone and empty Leaving me with the man on the mirror Him alone I put my trust on For the one I love Can never understand what it feels like to be me Hence she remains mean But to the matter of the heart A man without a mentor How can this be? For he is like an engine with no manual How can I then succeed? A man without true friends Who then will be his enemy? To tell him to his face the bitter truth So forgive me I beg of you If I fail to celebrate my unfulfillments with you For I am disappointed In my strength Then, the precariousness of my dreams No matter the condition of the forest The lion remains king And kings don’t eat grasses Hence I’m grateful for every air I breathe For tomorrow is the gateway to success or more failure A little prayer A little thanksgiving missed with the once missing faith Put smiles in these eyes of mine For I am indeed still alive.

The way this poem is set up gives it an awkward flow in the beginning, but as I continued on it gets easier to flow. You definitely have a great way of explaining your reasoning of being disappointed, and I can tell you that many times that is how we all end up feeling.. Not everyone is so put together, and not everyone is able to make the right choices, or do all the things that had thought they could. I commemorate you for being able to write and share this piece, because I understand how expressing your disappointment in yourself is one of the hardest things to admit, and to share. Thank you for posting this poem.

Rebecca
