Unacknowledged

I don’t know what’s worse,

to be seen but unheard.
Or to remain in the dark,

when having no voice is preferred
We walk and we talk,

yet we can’t seem to stop.
We say we’ll change,

we say we listen,

but no action has occurred.
We’re innocent, pure,

but people take us for fools, using us as tools.

Hoping only to fix themselves.

What about us?

Do we not have issues as well?

Do our hearts not leak of tears?

At this point, they feed off our tears

And us their lies.

When will we ever be able to reach for the skies?

They hold us back,

They hold us down,

Who are they to do that they’re going out of bound.

Every breath they take,

Every step they take, seem to bring us harm.

Little by little, they’re squeezing the life out of us.

Now we’re holding on by a thread fighting not to turn to dust.

Unfortunately, it’s inevitable.

They think that we’re at their beck and call

But they’ll be the only ones who’ll end up taking the fall.

Do they keep going for approval

Or does approval motivate them to keep going?

Oh well, there’s little to nothing that we can do.

We hurt life

And life hurts us.
