Unashamed
There's no need for you to tell me it's bad,
It's not in vain; but I value my pride.
No need for rudeness, my honesty's sad,
"Disappoint," the word that breaks me inside.
Too often my confidence is rotted
With shame. Good names are belittled and hushed.
Unrecognized grace ignites my battle,
"Lowly and modest," they say "it's a must."
If having an ego is my one flaw,
And my narcissism is something new,
Then prepare for this bit of shock and awe:
I'm proud of me because I'm not like you.
I always choose best, and I'll never quit.
Pride's a soul's fire, and mine? Ever-lit.
