The Unattainable

He sits across the way from me, His hair, gold and tame, Although he makes me filled with glee, I do not know his name. For shame, for shame! Is all I think His eyes a soft, deep blue. A glance towards me, and he does blink, Alas, I must know you. Mustering courage, I rise from my seat And take two small steps toward him. And then I stop, I know I'm beat; Another girl comes forward. I sit back down, she smiles at him And to her, his approval returned. As I listen, she calls Jim. The sadness inside me burned. Getting up from my chair, I leave the room Depression holding still; Then I see a friend of mine, In him, a look to kill. I notice then, like never before, We share a similar fate. He longs for me, even more, Than I do Jim to date.
