Uncertainty

Fear settles in when there is uncertainty

I wouldn’t be wrong if I said I’m always scared; because I always am

Unsure, confused and overwhelmed

Not wanting to be a burden, not wanting to fail

So much so to the point I let my fears settle in

I let them guide me, lead me, and reign over me

Shackled to myself, I’ve created a cage just for me, a cage inside of a cage I was born into

A leash held by those whom I wish to please

A collar from the ones who make me beg on my knees

With bloodied hands and bruised legs I crawl in the abyss

Clouded vision clouded mind, eyes full of mist not from wonder, just blind.

Little by little the uncertainty of everything makes my achievements look small

And sure enough fear settles in more and more.
