Unconditional

"Because I love you," he said to me /

As he forced me down to my knees /

"Because I love you," he used again /

To get me to abandon my family and friends /

When the pain finally made me want to leave /

"No one else will love you," he'd say to me /

He made me believe love was blind to abuse /

That love was nothing more than being used /

Then I met her and everything changed /

My views on love were no longer derranged /

She made me happy and loved me for me /

Oh god, seriously... how blind could I be... /

She betrayed me, lied, used me, and cheated /

I felt like I had been completely defeated /

"Because, I love you," she had tried /

I already knew it was just another lie /

Then I met him, but I was terrified /

False love had made me hate myself inside /

Yet he was understanding, caring, patient, and funny /

He taught me that love wasn't just sex or money /

He loved me, and appreciated who I was /

He supported me, as a person who loves you does /

He helped me with my depression and anxiety /

He helped me through my unhealthy tendencies /

He's Loyal, Honest, Passionate, Caring, /

Supportive, Respectful, Selfless, and Healing /

"Because I love you," is not something he does /

He doesn't even say, "I love you, because..." /

His love is unconditional and made me believe /

Everyone can be loved, even people like me
