Unconditionally

The breeze sings softly,

Behind the trees light emerges unhurriedly,

Its warmth so steady,

As my mourning dove ruffles its feathers

So loyal and pure

The other half awakens quietly,

Unstartled by my mourning dove so near,

Groundless allurement

With trust and tenderness coursing through,

Your adulation is cherished,

So loyal and pure

Not a scratch nor a blemish

On my mourning dove’s body,

For its partner embodies compassion,

Life is fragmentary with separation,

So loyal and pure

Atop a sturdy tree,

My mourning dove is dependable and strong,

Devoted to admiration,

Committed to respect,

A lifelong friendship,

Because I love you
