Some define love as life changing Maybe a reason for life rearranging Some tend to think of love as a significant other Not a best friend, sister, or brother Love is not limited to these things Love is not bound to one person or feeling Love is not abusive, demanding or controlling Love is acceptance, understanding, and caring Love isn't looking their texts on their phone Because you can't trust them when they're all alone Love is handing over the last cookie to your younger sibling While your stomach is growling Love isn't changing a person to suit your needs Love is helping a person because it's what they need Love isn't someone constantly buying you things Love is someone constantly putting a smile on your face Love isn't accusing someone of not having morals Or not being loyal Love isn't dictating someone's actions Or not caring what happens Love is putting someone's needs before your own And when a person becomes your home It's giving food to the hungry It's giving blankets to the cold It's giving your own things to strangers Or it could be a spouse Or someone else who lives in your house There are so many things love is There are so many things love isn't And maybe that's why It's better left undefined Love is a person donating to a charity Love is advocating for equality Love is a biker dad letting his daughter do his make up Love is when you get home and you see your dog's eyes light up There's love all around the world And there's more than you think In more ways than you would think
