The undeniable beauty of trees

There is beauty in you

the tired veins peaking from your lids

like bluebonnets in Texas.

The sad slopes of your shoulders

like the old towns that everyone passes.

You are alive, much like a tree

People pass by

and they can't see

how achingly beautiful you are

from the root of your feet

to the branches of your hands

rough and soothing

as they run through the winds hair

the messy curls of your leaves

blowing in the wind

the rosy chapped lips

are the berries you offer

full of life and love

and you are sleepy and sad

because people pass by

and they stop and glance

but they never give you a chance

they want something else

something you can't offer

and yet here you are

patient as ever

as I will be

with you

forever...
