Underneath It All

With a little color moisturizer She can hide it all The pain, the scars, the tears But not completely She throws on some concealer Smiles and thinks to herself that for once She passes as pretty To fully covert her intelligence She uses her first layer of foundation She adds on a second layer to fully cover up the fact She’s an outsider She blends down the layers and begins to transform into the person They want her to be She adds on her blush to show the world a clown But they seem to find her pretty. She applies her first layer of eye shadow A light color to show the fear she vows never to seep through Then a darker shade to hide the evidence That proves her soul is bruised Then the darkest to hide the demons That within her mind they cruise She applies her eyeliner With each stroke of the dripping marker Her inner self starts to show The one filled with hopes The one filled with dreams The one who keeps fighting The one who still screams “Let me go. Let me go. Let me go. Let the light shine upon me Don’t cover me up mea culpa Let me go. Let me go. Let me free.” She screams in so many languages Hoping someday someone will find her And let her know that it’s going to be okay Things will never be what they were She applies her mascara Thick and black And starts deep within the mirror At a person staring back Behind it all, beyond the make-up She sees an ambitious girl One so full of life One so full of joy One that’s ready to take on the world She seems so real with a face so pure No one imagines the adversities One girl could ever endure But just like you she faces the world Full of bullies. Full of hatred. Full of lies. Sometimes it even gets so bad that we don’t even see That at the end of the day underneath it all It’s the one and only me I cover it up And add on a smile And bury myself way deep inside Underneath it all. Underneath it all. Underneath it all. Underneath it all I hide

Rockiii

Honestly everything I am is written within the lines of each poem I write. I've been writing for a few years now and honestly I'd be nothing without poetry and writing.
