Understand
If only she could understand
Understand what it takes to be this man
Caring only about her happiness
For it he would live with less
But she wants the feel of another man
He who does not do the best he can
We accept the love we think we deserve
The sins we commit pledges who we serve
The hurt the pain the lies and the scars
We lower ourselves but raise the bars
Someone must pick us up and dust us off
But who for even the belief makes us scoff
There is no one who has the time
To save my love and hold it high
Above the bar because we can't ourselves
We need the help of someone else
To stand strong against the foe
Taking harshness blow by blow
Through words, action, and thought
Both foe and hero are wrought
One by love the other by gain
In the end only one can remain
But who will stay and who will go
This is only for you to know
Stay with the foe and he will thrive
And with that the hero will die
Come to love and watch it grow
And then pain will have to go
