Understand
he has learned the story of every
nightmare
that keeps me awake, and shaking.
he answers every 5 am text from the
nightmares that make me sit upright in fear
he has learned every word, that strikes
anxiousness
and my heartpounding
because he loves me
he gently reaches for my hand when he sees it
shaking
he tells me he’s there when i awake
shaking
he understands what sends my heart
racing
because he loves me
he has taken the time to understand me
i drive a bit slower when hes in my passanger seat
i hold his hand when someone asks about his parents
i know his fears, and dreams, and loves and hates.
because i love him
i take the time to understand him
the world may not understand my dreams
but you do
the world may not understand your uncertainty of cars
but i do
the world may never take the time to understand you
but i do
because i love you
