Understanding
“I saw that Lucero went to a sushi bar. They should invite my son” said my mother
“Yeah, Derian is always at home playing video games.
He never leaves or talks to anyone”
(Her friend tells her something over the phone)
“Oh that’s right they need to socialize”.
Silence. . .
And like that I can hear the realization:
Her tone shifts
Her words subtly quiver
And the mood got to me.
Upset
She begins to understand how lonely I am
All I need is for everyone else
to finally understand.
