Understanding adults
Adults always say kids will never understand,
But how would they know if they never try and explain?
Happiness is something I believe no one can understand or explain
My parents tried to explain that doing what I’m told will lead to happiness,
But how could they explain my happiness if they couldn’t explain their own?
Now as an adult myself, I can see that the happiness they were taking about was their own.
My happiness comes from doing what I love which is often the opposite of what I’m told.
I am told that I will be happy staying in one place when I am meant to travel the world.
I am told that I will be happy being traditional when I am anything but traditional.
I am told that I will be happy surrounded by lots of people when I am happiest in my freedom.
Adults always say kids will never understand,
But how would they know if they are wrong?
My happiness is what I want it to be, not what I am told it should be.
