Unexpected Company

I never meant to let you in, surely this is not a sin I never meant to have you stay, you never bothered to ask of my day I never meant to tell you stories, for you thought nothing of my glories I never meant to make you leave, I knew I couldn’t bear to grieve I left the door wide open, still you slipped through the cracks, You’re just another weight on the small of my back And I can’t stand to face you as the walls start closing in I left the door wide open, still I’m running short of oxygen You were just unexpected company; a minor sublety Yet you have me installed in the corners of my walls You’re just a guest, just a guest, get out let me live in my own fucking mess!
