Unexpectedly warm

Dad went on a trip and I didn't cry even though I missed him. I went to my first interview, terrified and tongue-tied but still got the job. I made my own dentist appointment and didn't talk myself out of it. I said I flossed twice a day, and wasn't even lying. Candy bars were traded for fruit; long nights became early mornings. Everyday things became nostalgic things.  I took steps I didn't want to take. First because I had to, then eventually because I wanted to.Uncertainty almost looked beautiful. Dear self, you are still you. Somehow that is possible.Things have merged and morphed, but I know you remember. I know you must dream of it.Come now. Sit down. Let me start from the beginning.
