Unfilterted Nay

Everyone wants to hide who they are these days,

Because they are afraid to be judged by those who don't approve.

Here I stand, naked and afraid as I show you who I am.

I am that girl who smiles alot,

Always laughing, but never happy.

I want to make others happy, even when it seems no one wants

To do the same for me.

Words are not sticks or stones, but when the connect,

The pain runs just as deep.

Saying "no" to requests is not a problem for me;

As I refuse to compromise my integrity for anyone.

Sometimes I feel complicated and I don't understand me.

At times I feel I need to change for people to like me,

But as I've grown, I realize I need not care what others think;

Only what I think of myself and I need to be relentless in the pursuit of what makes me happy.
