Unfinished

This isn’t right

I’ve said that a million times but now it comes swiftly with cold clarity

This isn’t right

Something inside me is messed up

Mismatched

Incorrect

So there is a reason why I’m like this, after all

It wasn’t just wishful thinking combined with self-hate

It’s a medical condition

A tragic mistake formed in utero

I can be explained

Do you know the joy I felt when I first realized what was wrong with me?

Maybe not

But at least I knew I wasn’t crazy

Just not made correctly

Unfinished

Forever

But while an explanation is nice

It doesn't stop me from wanting to rip my skin off

Maybe the real me is underneath, just waiting to be freed

I’ve tried to free him

But every time he retreats

Maybe the secret doesn’t lie under the skin on my hands

It lies in my head

If only I could change my brain

But I can’t

So here I am, doomed to forever be unfinished
