Unfinished Business

sunday, august thirty-third of the never ending year. you're so gone and so far, time never really was all that clear. this opportunity is so spitefully holding back embarrassment. feelings, sprouting on beds where mouths knock and tongues talk of later dates, and of the moment. feelings, one atop the other. feelings, mutually exclusive, just like the other. safety, lock and key, to the secret of one love's mystery. don't worry, i won't tell anyone. no one has or needs to know, but would you just give me this one chance to show? "why give?" you might ask... i don't know. do you, me, this poor schlep a favor, and treat his tongue as the sweetest flavor, a flavor so sweet, it's flavor you'd savor. what can i do with you? what will i ever be able to do without you? maybe i'll just wrap you up in my pocket, and save you for later. i hope i don't forget to take you out when i give my jeans a wash. what a loss, what a loss. what a loss, what a loss. i want you. i don't need you (yet,) but maybe soon, i will. i wish, even though, i know, i can't.
