Unfortunately

Spires seem to fall from heaven,

With each thought you see a future of “we”.

With a gasp you hear what beauty calls,

That there will in fact be a “we”.

But wait for it there’s something more.

Swirling confusion, steps to my door.

Tragedy, compulsion, obsession,

What will come of it next?

Hopelessly looking for “me”,

Bravely standing and holding our ground

But waiting for that to caress my desire.

I want my melody, I want my song

As I gaze to the blue I see me and you,

But again it isn’t only me,

For you don’t see it divides into three.

We aren’t sure what this will become,

But I don’t know how much longer I can go on.

I adore, I love, I mean

We should be, free,

Soaring, floating, falling, tremulous,

Gasping, laughing, lost.

Without me there isn’t a “we”,

And without me, there won’t be a “three”,

Instead of three, I feel I should settle without “Me”.

It could be four, it could be more,

I just want you and me.

Disappear, reappear, showing, fading,

I want thee to take their place,

I want thee to help me escape my fate,

The one I know as “unfortunately”
