(UN)GUARDED
Why is it
that nowadays
It isn't okay to display feelings
or thoughts
or any type of emotion
or truth
which we feel?
When someone asks
"How are you?"
"How's your day?"
etc, etc.
we have this automatic response:
"I'm fine."
Or if someone asks
"What's wrong?"
Our excuse:
"I'm. Just. Tired."
You see, there is this group mentality
that says we have to be "just fine"
or that everything is peachy-keen.
And this mentality
means guarding ourselves
from haters
friends
strangers
family.
This mentality means
we are robots
unable to show emotion.
Why are we so guarded?
Why do we put up a front that everything is a-okay
even if it is the worst day ever?
Why does it take us hundreds of years
to let someone in?
To be vulnerable?
To be open?
I know I have a problem.
I'm too scared to let people know ME,
but I am trying.
I'm trying to be honest
open
true
vulnerable
trusting.
Let's do it.
Instead of "heavily guarded"
be a little less reserved
or restrained,
be a little more
UNGUARDED.
We are here together.
We are not robots.
We are human.
