Unhealthy Obsession

I can taste you on my lips

I can’t get rid of it

I can feel you running through my veins

You’re like a drug to me

And I want to quit it

But I’m relapsing

And I’m back for another hit

It’s so unhealthy

But I just can’t help myself

Someone please come stop me

I feel as if I will overdose

Trying to take more

Of something I never should have started

Why do you whisper such sweet promises

Only to leave me collapsed on the ground and unresponsive

You seemed like such a good idea at first

Until I was drawn in hook, line, and sinker

Never did I know that this contract I’ve signed

Would land me in a hospital bed

I should have said no

I should have listened to those around me

You’re a bad drug

And yet I come round again

Waiting to get my next fix.
