Uniquely Molded for Me

a pretty girl with a pretty smile,

a tiny waist and a perfect face,

5 foot 10 and dressed to the 9s at all times,

THIS is what it means to be a woman,

to be a woman that is desired is all there is to do,

to be a female of worth you’ve got to be the part,

don’t do this and don’t do that,

to be a damsel in distress is the only way to find a prince,

to be a female in society there are stipulations aplenty

everyone knows this sinister truth that pervades into every facet of life,

a female is expected to cook and to clean while the kings upon his throne,

atop a mound of debris from the last maid who looked the wrong way,

she is to sit in her corner and agree with he says,

she is not to have her own opinion,

she may as well be locked in a tower with no hope of escape,

and when the king gets bored he can tell her to leave,

because what’s a girl worth if she can’t seduce her king?

how can she be any good if she isn’t all dolled up,

these are the lessons I learned as I grew up,

this was all I saw in the magazines,

as a young girl I was taught all the fine workings of what it is to be me,

I was taught to look the best that I could because that was the ONLY WAY,

to be the best me I could be,

soon however the rose colored glasses of fitting in shattered,

it was then that I learned that I DIDN’T FIT into the particular mold I had made,

it was then that I learned that there just HAD to be something wrong with me,

I wasn’t tall and small, I couldn’t fit into the smallest of sizes,

this tower of mine wasn’t as great as I had hoped it to be,

I tried to FIX myself as best I could,

except nothing seemed to work!

I just couldn’t fit this predestined role given by society,

this earned me some names that tore me apart,

I was tossed from my tower with no warning at all,

this was no fairy tale, I had no knight in shining armor waiting for me,

but it was then that I finally knew that falling into myself was the freest I’d be,

NO LONGER did society get to tell me who to be,

it was MY TURN to make a mold uniquely for me,

you see,

it was as simple as that,

I was finally FREE to be ME.
