United By The Fall

Smoke rising to the sky.

Tears sliding from peoples' eyes.

Two towers, a field, and a pentagon set ablaze.

A nation glued to the T.V.; shocked and amazed.

Heroes emerging from it all.

Saving others when they themselves would fall.

2,996 individuals leaving loved ones behind.

What went through those terrorists' minds?

But they failed at their goal to tear us apart.

It had quite the opposite effect on every American heart.

We were united by our anger and pain

From Puerto Rico to Alaska and Hawaii to Maine.

One decade later, we’re still here, but we’re okay.

We won’t ever forget when the world stopped turning on that September day.
