United or Divided

Where have we gone?

What have we done?

Why have we broken the bonds of brotherly love?

Are we all not one country?

Why are we hateful?

Should we not be grateful?

Aren’t we all proud to be called Americans?

Aren’t we all free?

Why are we at war?

Why do we raise our swords?

A nation divided against itself cannot stand!

Aye, divided we shall fall!

With the words we have spoken,

Our bonds we have broken,

Why have we made our brothers our foes?

We’ve built an invisible wall!

What shall we say?

How shall we pray?

Oh, that love will overcome hate, and peace overcome strife,

And undo what we have done,

What should we do?

Other than make amends anew?

Aye, let us restore what we have broken and destroyed,

Come together again as one,

Why are we divided?

Weren’t we meant to be united?

United under God, Indivisible, with liberty,

With justice for all!
