United We Stand

What's the deal with this discrimination we face.
And I'm not just addressing the issues of race
but the amount of hate that dwells within this place

I mean I'm so sick and tired it's making me impatient
Even waiting for the bus didn't put me in this situation

Placed in world where we judge others based on  sexual orientation
Physical limitations
Lack financial support
And being comfortable in their own skin

We do this day to day frequently
And it's because of our own insecurity
That we attack those perceived as weak in order to feel at peace

Now these actions need a proper explanation; why do we hate on others that have unique but different opinions

It's because of the jealousy within our own self-esteem that we despise others who can carry themselves properly

Whether it's in the classrooms the hallways, the bathroom, at parties, In different places we eat, or in the world where we all stay

And don't get me wrong I have that same jealousy as well
You know when you see somebody doing better for themselves
Seeing them in a situation where you can tell that
If you were in that role you wouldn't fair so well

So you scold and treat them lesser than yourself
Disagree with anything they say because you can't stand to see them express themselves

But I must tell you my friends
That with this type of hate

discrimination will never end
We have to stop these trends when someone is different within our social norm we gang up and criticize them

I mean can't we see that this is wrong
If I were to ask  "how would you feel in that position" how would you respond

A wise man once stated a very true fact
Darkness cannot drive out darkness
Only light can do that
Hate cannot drive out hate
Only love can do that

And it is because of that wise man we are here at this assembly today
MLK Martin Luther the King of peace and equality

I can't stress enough that love is the tool drive out this hatred
It is the light we need to see past these
Dark tunnels we created
And at the end of this tunnel we shall see a promising loving and united generatio
