Uniting Ring

A ring is a symbol of love.

A semi-circle, incomplete,

Joins another to create one,

Just as a man in his nature

Yearns for one who will close

The gaping hole he is born with.

Just as the moon waxes and wanes,

So are man and woman in the cycle of love.

Receding, the moon seems to hide away.

But like love, it returns beaming.

Its light appears when hope is gone.

Our tides of love shift from darkness to light.

Faithful in the uniting bond of the circle,

We continue to fight for the luminous love,

The love that knows no end.

Perhaps this is why we place the rings

On the fingers of our loves.

Just as one might tie a string around a finger to remember,

The ring reminds us of our vows to each other:

Vows of perseverance and oneness,

Promises of maintaining

A love that will never fail.
