Into the Unknown

My last breath escapes from me,

I clenched my teeth; curled my toe,

A bitter struggle ending pitifully.

One last tear; the summation of my plea.

The end of I; could it be so?

My last breath escapes from me.

My soul pushed on, like a rolling sea.

Bleary eyes perceived a crow;

A bitter struggle ending pitifully.

Beckoning, summoning; anxiously,

Fleeting into the eerie glow.

My last breath escapes from me.

Lack of a body brings boundless energy;

Expelling the worries of tomorrow,

A bitter struggle ending pitifully.

A new companion brought inexplicable glee;

Into the unknown I would follow.

My last breath escapes from me,

A bitter struggle ending pitifully.
